Poverty reduction will now become “a nationwide movement”, president of Uzbekistan said. He noted that the reasons for falling into poverty are different, so the approaches should also be different. A program “From poverty to prosperity” is being developed, he added.
Minimum expenditure basket in Uzbekistan, also used to determine the poverty line, has risen by 4.3%, from 621,000 soums to 648,000 soums (from $49 to $51) per month. This adjustment, the second this year, reflects the upcoming increase in gas and electricity tariffs from 1 May.
President of Uzbekistan met with his Chinese counterpart in Xi’an to discuss bilateral cooperation. The two leaders adopted a program for the development of a comprehensive strategic partnership in the new era between the two countries for 2023−2027 and signed 41 documents, covering various areas.
